We searched "TS dating" on the Apple App Store and selected the top 10 results. We then reviewed each app’s terms and conditions and privacy policy using ChatGPT, asking 10 key questions related to user safety and data privacy. The goal was to see which platforms are most transparent and trustworthy with your personal information. For comparison, we also included our own app, Greed, in the analysis.

For each tick, we have assigned one point to help rank the TS dating apps based on privacy and safety features. What quickly becomes clear is that none of the apps carry out background checks. This is likely due to the technical challenges and legal limitations involved in running such checks. Only our own app, Greed, meets the standards set by the United States Online Dating Safety Act of 2023. When it comes to password storage, the level of transparency varies. Perhaps most concerning is that every app except Greed reserves the right to use your photo for marketing purposes, often without making this obvious to the user.

Our own app comes out on top when it comes to privacy, and this is not due to bias. Greed was built from the very beginning with privacy as its main priority. In contrast, the apps that focus specifically on trans users tend to score quite poorly. TS Chat received a score of zero, while the highest among them, My Transgender Date, achieved only five out of ten.
